Project Overview

FinanceMe is a clean, modern personal finance app designed to help everyday users take control of their money — tracking their balance, monitoring spending activity and managing transfers all from one beautifully designed mobile experience. Built around a bold pink and dark UI, FinanceMe was designed to make personal finance feel approachable, empowering and stress-free rather than intimidating and complex.

The Problem

Managing personal finances feels stressful and overwhelming for most people.

Traditional banking apps are designed around institutional priorities — dense with information, cold in tone and built for compliance rather than clarity. Most users open their banking app only when they absolutely have to, not because it helps them understand or improve their financial situation. The emotional relationship people have with money — anxiety, avoidance, confusion — is often made worse by the apps designed to help them.

The opportunity was clear — design a personal finance experience that feels friendly and empowering rather than corporate and cold, giving users a clear picture of their financial health in a way that motivates action rather than avoidance.

The Solution

FinanceMe was designed to make money management feel simple, visual and human.

The solution focused on three core design decisions — a clean dashboard that shows the user's total balance prominently and immediately, a clear recent activity feed that displays transactions in a readable, categorized format with color coded amounts, and quick action buttons for the two most common tasks — adding money and making transfers — accessible directly from the home screen without any navigation.

The bold pink accent on a dark background was a deliberate departure from conventional fintech blue and green palettes. Pink communicates approachability and warmth — signaling to users that this is a finance app built for real people, not corporate institutions. The result is an experience that feels personal, modern and genuinely easy to use.

Project Goals

The following goals guided every design decision made throughout this project:

→ Design a friendly, approachable visual identity that breaks away from cold corporate fintech aesthetics and makes money management feel human and accessible.

→ Create a clear, focused home dashboard that gives users an immediate overview of their financial health without overwhelming them with unnecessary data.

→ Make common actions instantly accessible by surfacing the most used features — balance, transfers and activity — directly on the home screen with zero extra navigation.

→ Build trust through clarity by presenting transaction data in a clean, readable and well organized format that makes users feel informed and in control.

→ Deliver a complete, portfolio-ready case study that demonstrates strong visual design craft and thoughtful UX decision making across the full mobile experience.
